So, how to make yerba mate in a gourd?
Let’s review the 6 simple steps of the procedure to get this traditional drink and soon you will know what does yerba mate taste like
Heat The Water.
You must heat water at a temperature of 75 or 80 °C (167 to 176°F). Do not let the water boil! This way you will prevent the yerba from burning and losing property.
Shake Your Mate.
Fill 3/4 parts of the recipient (mate cup) with yerba. Then you must cover the opening of the mate and shake it a few seconds horizontally to mix well its components.
Pour
The Water.
Tilt the recipient at about 45 degrees, the yerba will form a slope. Slowly pour water over the space without yerba trying to moisten it slowly from the bottom of the container.
Insert The Straw.
Once the bottom of the mate is covered with water, put the straw (bombilla) on the wall against the yerba, covering the mouth of the bombilla to avoid clogging.
Fill Your Mate.
Without moving the bombilla, finish filling the cup with water. Always pour the water at the same point, next to the bombilla.
Finish
Your Mate.
Done! You can enjoy your first mate. Remember that every time you pour water you should not wet all the yerba so that it does not lose its flavor quickly.
